THE KING'S SPEECH

A few days ago, I learned that the screenwriter of THE KING'S SPEECH is David Seidler.
David and I were at the University of Washington Drama School together back in 1959-60.
I was a freshman and he was in graduate school.
We did a television production of HAMLET together. He was Claudius, I was Osric, and Marian Hailey, who did the movie version of LOVERS AND OTHER STRANGERS and HARVEY on
TV with Jimmy Stewart, played Ophelia. The 1-hour production, done on
the University's educational TV channel was conceived and directed by
Rod Whitaker.
I also recall that, for his Master's thesis, David wrote a very funny play about ancient Rome, CLAUDIUS THE IDIOT.
Fingers crossed that he gets the Oscar.
Now, while I run off to my dentist appointment, you have a creative day.
