Holiday Disasters

Happy New Year!
I hope you have all had a wonderful holiday season.
Mine was a bit of a disaster. About ten days before Christmas, our projection TV died, so now we have a new 4K flat screen in our family/living room. Then, on New Year's Eve, our washing machine quit. The service guy came out on Friday, and the repair is not going to be cheap, but much less expensive than the cost of a new machine.
Other than that, it was a pretty quiet holiday season. I started reading actor Paul Henreid's excellent autobiography, LADIES MAN, which I am thoroughly enjoying, and on New Year's Day, I re-started our subscription to Netflix.
On this coming Friday, I will be doing a live radio interview with Mary Jane Popp, who has a show on a Sacramento station. We'll be talking about my book, MURDER IN BABYLON, which deals with Hollywood's infamous William Desmond Taylor murder. The book was published in early December and is selling well.
This week, I will probably start writing again. I've been laying off for a few weeks, but I have a book of short stories/novellas that I want to do.
There are three new reviews on the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page. They are BLACK SAILS, Season One, BY THE GUN a pretty good Mob movie, and THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW, a terrific 12 disc set. So take a look.
Winter has finally come to Austin. It's cold and rainy here, and it will probably be that way all week.
You have a creative one.

The Holiday Weeks
by Michael B. Druxman on 12/20/14
December 22, 2014
Barring something unexpected, I think that this will be the last blog I post until the first part of the year. Not much happens around here between Christmas and New Year's anyway.
There are two new reviews posted on the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page. They are ELSA & FRED with Shirley MacLaine and Christopher Plummer, and HORNS with Daniel Radcliffe. So, please take a look.
I've also received a review copy of BLACK SAILS, Season One. I haven't watched it yet, but I probably will do that and post a review within the next week or so.
Not much else to report. Both of my new books, MURDER IN BABYLON and SEXY REXY, my play about Rex Harrison, have received nice reviews on Amazon and are selling well. So, if you haven't ordered your copies yet, please do.
I hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday.

The Quiet Month
by Michael B. Druxman on 12/13/14
December 15, 2014
December is always a quiet month. It seems that, after Thanksgiving, nobody feels like doing much of anything until the first of the year. And, that includes me.
I've started working on a new book of 3 novellas/short stories, but I've stopped writing on them for the time being because I don't feel motivated. I will certainly get back to them in January, but just now I want to do other things...like read and watch movies.
There's no hurry because, book wise, I'm set through next year. Both MURDER IN BABYLON and SEXY REXY have just been published, and scheduled for 2015 are my Dinah Shore biography and the reprint of my book on Paul Muni.
We did get a new television set this past week. Our 12-year old projection TV, which came with us from Los Angeles, literally died one morning, so we went out and got a new 55" flat screen for the living room.
You have a creative week.
