What took you so long to get here?
Where have you been all my life?
I’ll tell you where I’ve been.

I’ve been in show business!

Ever since I was a little kid and heard Pinocchio singing, “Hey, diddly-dee, an actor’s life for me,” that’s what I wanted. Well, not to be an actor.
I got tired of that during my freshman year in college.

So, what to do, what to do. . .

After many years as a Hollywood press agent, I became a writer…movies, stage plays, books.
Anything that was a challenge.  I love telling stories.

After all, with due respect to actors, directors and other artists, isn’t the only truly creative aspect of the performing arts the written word?
Everything else is “interpretation”.

On this site you will find links to my many stage plays that are available for licensing, listings of my books that are available for purchasing, some of my screenplays that are available for optioning, plus my blog that will keep you apprised of my various on-going activities and we can get to know each other, maybe too well.

If you’re into DVDs, take a look at my monthly newsletter, BEST BETS ON DVD.

Also, if you have a story that you want told, either in screenplay or book form, I am still a writer-for-hire.  Have Mac-Will Write.

So, please sign the guest book and share your thoughts and comments on my blog.  But, let’s play nice!

Don’t be such a stranger.  Keep coming back!

Have a Nice Weekend!

by Michael B. Druxman on 08/11/11

August 12, 2011

The stock market is so depressing.

The other day, I was thinking about jumping out the window, but then I remembered that I live in a one-story house.

One nice thing is that the 6 one-person plays that I published are selling rather well on Amazon.  None of them are ever going to be best-sellers, but they are selling steadily...and that's the important thing.

Interestingly, the most popular of the group is Carole LOMBARD.  Perhaps there are a lot of actresses out there who would like to play the "Queen of Screwball Comedy".

The other plays are Clark GABLE, Spencer TRACY, Errol FLYNN, ORSON WELLES and CLARA BOW.

You should take a look on Amazon, because even if you are not an actor, the plays are entertaining reading.

I have two new reviews posted on the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page.  They are SIMBA, a 1955 movie with Dirk Bogarde that deals with the Mau Mau uprising in Kenya, and a new 2-disc set from The Criterion Collection, THE KILLING paired with KILLER'S KISS.  Both are film noir, early works by Stanley Kubrick.

Please take a look.

You have a creative weekend and I'll be back on Monday.

Michael
