B MOVIE
by Michael B. Druxman on 03/29/14

I'm happy to report that B MOVIE is getting some very nice comments from both sides of the Atlantic. It's selling well in the USA and the UK where one of the principals of my play (i.e. Barbara Payton) made a couple of movies just before her career took a steep dive.
As I've said here before, I'm quite proud of this one, so if you enjoy shocking stories about Hollywood, I hope you'll journey over to Amazon or your favorite bookseller and order it.
On Friday, I approved the audio adaptation of HAIL ON THE CHIEF, which means that it should be available for sale within a couple of weeks. I'm quite pleased with the finished result.
I've been under the weather for the past week or so. The doctor thinks I've picked up some sort of bug that is going around. Not fun!
There's a review of AT MIDDLETON posted this week on the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link on the Introduction section of this page. It's a charming romantic comedy, so take a look.
You have a creative week.

2 New Blu-Ray Reviews
by Michael B. Druxman on 03/22/14
March 24, 2014
Not a lot to talk about this week, so this entry will be short and sweet.
I've posted a pair of reviews on the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page. Though they didn't take home any statuettes, both movies had major Oscar nominations and both are well worth seeing. They are PHILOMENA with Judi Dench and AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY with Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts. So, take a look.
I am currently gathering research materials for my next writing project, a 5 person stage play that, as you might suspect, deals with real life Hollywood personalities. I'm quite excited about this one, but I'm not going to tell you any more about it until it's finished. It is a terrific story.
You have a creative week.

The ACX Scramble
by Michael B. Druxman on 03/15/14
March 17, 2014
Last Tuesday night was a scramble. As I mentioned last week, ACX, the company through which I distribute audio adaptations of my books and plays, was adjusting their royalty system, and audio productions that weren't contracted for my midnight, would earn a lower royalty payment.
I managed to close four contracts before the deadline. Two of the productions are being done by other people and two are going to be produced by me...once I find a recording situation. In hindsight, I wish I'd contacted to do all of my scripts myself because now the uncontracted ones will be subject to a lower royalty.
While my wife is proof-reading my Dinah Shore biography, I'm currently in the process of adapting the stage versions of the contracted plays into audio versions.
I'm getting some nice feedback on B MOVIE, my play about the Franchot Tone/Barbara Payton/Tom Neal affair that was published last week. There's a great review on the Amazon site, and a top Los Angeles theatre company has requested a copy; possibly for production. (Fingers crossed)
Not much else to report. You have a creative week.
