What took you so long to get here?
Where have you been all my life?
I’ll tell you where I’ve been.

I’ve been in show business!

Ever since I was a little kid and heard Pinocchio singing, “Hey, diddly-dee, an actor’s life for me,” that’s what I wanted. Well, not to be an actor.
I got tired of that during my freshman year in college.

So, what to do, what to do. . .

After many years as a Hollywood press agent, I became a writer…movies, stage plays, books.
Anything that was a challenge.  I love telling stories.

After all, with due respect to actors, directors and other artists, isn’t the only truly creative aspect of the performing arts the written word?
Everything else is “interpretation”.

On this site you will find links to my many stage plays that are available for licensing, listings of my books that are available for purchasing, some of my screenplays that are available for optioning, plus my blog that will keep you apprised of my various on-going activities and we can get to know each other, maybe too well.

If you’re into DVDs, take a look at my monthly newsletter, BEST BETS ON DVD.

Also, if you have a story that you want told, either in screenplay or book form, I am still a writer-for-hire.  Have Mac-Will Write.

So, please sign the guest book and share your thoughts and comments on my blog.  But, let’s play nice!

Don’t be such a stranger.  Keep coming back!

A Lot To Do

by Michael B. Druxman on 10/31/10

November 1, 2010

First, I'm happy to report that Sandy is doing quite well after her hand surgery last Friday.  It took her awhile to come out of the anesthetic, but on Saturday, she was pretty much back to her old self.

I am going to be so happy after tomorrow...when those election ads are finished on TV.  Won't you?

We also have the pest control people coming to spray the house tomorrow.  Interesting day for them to come, isn't it?

This should be a busy week ahead.  Not only will I be writing on my screenplay (I figured out how to "connect many of the dots" over the weekend), but I also have to write reviews for some DVDs and, in addition, make notes for the talk I will be giving to the Austin Network Mixer on the 10th.

So, you have a creative day, too.

Moving Right Along

by Michael B. Druxman on 10/28/10

October 29, 2010

The new screenplay I'm working on is moving right along.  I have eleven (11) pages, which isn't a bad first week's work.

The challenge with this script is that I have two (2) parallel, albeit related, story lines going, and they don't meet until the end of the 2nd act.

I'm going to be spending most of today in the doctor's office, waiting as Sandy will be having the surgery on her hand.

Now here's something I was sent:

Children Writing About the Ocean
                                                                                                                                            1) This is a picture of an octopus.  It has eight testicles.
(Kelly, age 6)

2) Oysters' balls are called pearls.
(Jerry, age 6)

3) If you are surrounded by ocean, you are an island.  If you don't
have ocean all round you, you are incontinent.
(Jimmy, age 7)

4) Sharks are ugly and mean, and have big teeth, just like Emily Richardson.  She's not my friend any more.
(Kylie, age 6)

5) A dolphin breaths through an asshole on the top of its head.
(Billy, age 8)

6) My uncle goes out in his boat with 2 other men and a woman and pots and comes back with crabs.
(Millie, age 6)

7) When ships had sails, they used to use the trade winds to cross the
ocean.  Sometimes when the wind didn't blow the sailors would whistle to make the wind come.

My brother said they would have been better off eating beans.
(William, age 7)

You have a creative weekend, and I'll be back on Monday.

A New Title

by Michael B. Druxman on 10/27/10

October  28, 2010

Yesterday, while I was in the shower, I came up with a new title for my book of short stories, which won't be published  until sometime next year.  I don't want to compete with MY FORTY-FIVE YEARS IN HOLLYWOOD AND HOW I ESCAPED ALIVE...even though the two books would probably appeal to different segments of the marketplace.

It's a great title, very commercial, but I'm not going to tell you what it is just yet.  I wouldn't want anybody to steal it.

Wife Sandy has some minor surgery scheduled for her hand tomorrow.  The doctor is going to "loosen" a couple of tendons hat have been restricting movement of her fingers.

I guess I'd better start working on the talk I'm going to give to the Austin Network Mixer in a couple of weeks.  I know pretty much want I want to say, but I should put some notes down on paper.

Sorry, no jokes for you today, so just have a creative one.

Michael
