Navy SEAL Quote of the Week
by Michael B. Druxman on 10/11/11

Dana Perrino (Fox News) describing an interview she recently had with a Navy SEAL:
After discussing all the countries he had been sent to, she asked a question.
Dana asked: "Did you have to learn several languages?"
SEAL reply: "Oh no, ma'am, we don't go there to talk."

Possible JOLSON production
by Michael B. Druxman on 10/10/11
October 11, 2011
Yesterday, I e-mailed off contracts for a production of my one-person play, JOLSON, to be presented in Greensboro, NC in mid-November.
Once the signed contract is in my hands, I will make an "official" announcement, but since the theater has already listed the production on its website, this looks pretty good.
Since the play has not been staged since 1997, I spent part of yesterday trying to update my list of copyright holders for the songs that are used in the show that are not in the public domain.
At one point, I spoke to a woman who works for the company that handles George and Ira Gershwin's music. Geroge, of course, wrote two Jolson classics: "Swanee" and "Liza".
This woman, who was in her mid-fifties, had not only never heard of those songs, but she had never even heard of Al Jolson.
Makes you wonder, doesn't it?
You have a creative day.

Interesting News
by Michael B. Druxman on 10/09/11

Some interesting news to report today:
1. Contracts are now being signed for Bear Manor Media to reprint my book, BASIL RATHBONE: His Life and His Films, which has been OOP for over 35 years.
I'm writing a new Introduction for the reprint, but otherwise, the new edition will be a mirror of the original. Not sure on the actual publication date yet, but hopefully it will be before (or shortly after) the first of the year.
2. My one-person play, (Al) JOLSON, is now available from Amazon in both paperback and Kindle editions. Here's the link for the paperback. If it doesn't work, just copy the following address into your browser and you'll be taken right there.
http://www.amazon.com/Jolson-Michael-B-Druxman/dp/1466349352/ref=sr_1_1_title_0_main?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1318046785&sr=1-1
3. I've just posted reviews for both the LOST EMPIRES mini-series and THE FOUR FEATHERS (1939) on the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page. LOST EMPIRES is an excellent British series, which features Colin Firth and Laurence Olivier, and THE FOUR FEATHERS is the classic adventure tale, directed by Zoltan Korda. So, please take a look.
There is more news brewing, but I won't tell you about it until it is more firm.
In the meantime, have a creative day.
