What took you so long to get here?
Where have you been all my life?
I’ll tell you where I’ve been.

I’ve been in show business!

Ever since I was a little kid and heard Pinocchio singing, “Hey, diddly-dee, an actor’s life for me,” that’s what I wanted. Well, not to be an actor.
I got tired of that during my freshman year in college.

So, what to do, what to do. . .

After many years as a Hollywood press agent, I became a writer…movies, stage plays, books.
Anything that was a challenge.  I love telling stories.

After all, with due respect to actors, directors and other artists, isn’t the only truly creative aspect of the performing arts the written word?
Everything else is “interpretation”.

On this site you will find links to my many stage plays that are available for licensing, listings of my books that are available for purchasing, some of my screenplays that are available for optioning, plus my blog that will keep you apprised of my various on-going activities and we can get to know each other, maybe too well.

If you’re into DVDs, take a look at my monthly newsletter, BEST BETS ON DVD.

Also, if you have a story that you want told, either in screenplay or book form, I am still a writer-for-hire.  Have Mac-Will Write.

So, please sign the guest book and share your thoughts and comments on my blog.  But, let’s play nice!

Don’t be such a stranger.  Keep coming back!

New Reviews!

by Michael B. Druxman on 07/25/15

July 27, 2015

I'm still in a cast and not able to get around much, but I have an appointment with the doctor on Thursday and, hopefully after that, I'll be back in my Frankenstein boot and able to move around by myself.

This past week, I've been watching/reviewing several movies that have been sent to me.  You can read the reviews by visiting the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page.

The films reviewed are MADAME BOVARY, ANY DAY, FOREIGN INTRIGUE with Robert Mitchum and HE RAN ALL THE WAY, John Garfield's final movie.  Within the next day or two, there should also be a review posted for ADULT BEGINNERS, which I'm planning to watch today or tomorrow.

You have a creative week.

I'm Still Alive!

by Michael B. Druxman on 07/18/15

July 18, 2015

Pain is considerably less ten days after my surgery.

I'm getting quite adept at moving around the house on my knee walker (i.e. scooter). Who knows? Maybe when all this is over, I'll enter a scooter race.

I'm told that it will still be several more weeks before I can put any weight on the left ankle. Transfers to/from the scooter are the only hard part. I'm sleeping a lot and, except for checking my e-mail and visiting FaceBook once a day, I'm really not spending much time on-line. Maybe I'm not addicted after all.

Since nothing else is really going on in my life just now, I will update you as needed.

Thanks for the positive thoughts.

Michael

Getting Ready for Surgery

by Michael B. Druxman on 06/27/15

June 28, 2015

This past week, I've been running around (i.e. limping around), getting ready for my Achilles tendon surgery on July 7th.  We picked up crutches, a shower bench, a a device to fit over the toilet, so that I'll be able to lift myself off, and a gate belt, which will allow wife Sandy (or someone else) to hold onto me while I maneuver on crutches.

I've pretty much cleared my desk of work.  My play, LANA & JOHNNY WERE LOVERS, is now available in both paperback and on Kindle; the audio version of MURDER IN BABYLON has been approved and should be available shortly; and my biography, MISS DINAH SHORE, is done and ready to print.

So, for the next few weeks, I'll just be taking it easy; reading and watching TV and DVDs.

Actually, I do have an idea for a new play, based on a shocking Hollywood scandal, and three of the books I will be reading should give me more insight into that story and if it will work as a play.

You have a creative week.
