Reading Books
by Michael B. Druxman on 10/10/15October 12, 2015
Since my foot operation this past July, I've been doing very little writing, but a lot of reading; mostly show business memoirs and biographies. Indeed, I'm enjoying my reading so much that I really feel no pressing need to get back to my writing, even though there are a couple of stories I'd like to (eventually) finish.
I just finished Bill O'Rielly's KILLING REAGAN, which I enjoyed. (You do recall that, before he went into the political arena, Ronald Reagan was an actor?)
Prior to that, I read Todd McCarthy's extensive biography of director Howard Hawks, Barbara Eden and Ernest Borgnine's autobiographies, biographies of Cary Grant and the entire Redgrave clan (Michael, Vanessa and Lynn), plus something called MY LUNCHES WITH ORSON (Welles).
Currently, I am enjoying Lee Grant's I SAID YES TO EVERYTHING and next up is Candice Bergen's autobiography.
Wife Sandy's surgery has been postponed until the 22nd of this month (different doctor and hospital), so I expect to visit the bookstore again before that date. I don't run out of things to read.
I went to a new dentist this past week, who I like very much. Unlike my former dentist, I didn't walk in and hear "You need $3000 worth of work." Instead, he said, "You have a couple of teeth that we need to watch." Since I'm almost 75, I really don't want to go though major dental work unless it become absolutely necessary.
You have a creative week.
Michael
