OKLAHOMA!

This afternoon, wife Sandy and I are driving down to San Marcos (about halfway between Austin and San Antonio) to see a performance of OKLAHOMA!
OKLAHOMA! was the 2nd live professional stage play I ever saw and the first musical. I'm guessing that I was under 10 years old when the national company played Seattle and my parents took me to see it. I imagine there there were some future stars in that cast, but I, unfortunately, don't have the program any longer.
Incidentally, the first professional stage play I saw was HARVEY with Joe E. Brown. I was five, and I was somewhat disappointed because I never got to see the giant rabbit they kept talking about.
This coming Thursday, I will be at the Austin Library again, hosting another classic film: WHITE HEAT with Jimmy Cagney. Looking forward to it.
Back in the 1970s, I wrote a monthly column, "Yesterday at the Movies," in which I interviewed stars from Hollywood's Golden Age (i.e. Jack Oakie, Claire Trevor, Ann Miller, Paul Henreid, etc.). Currently, I'm in the process of putting those interviews, as well as quotes from my notes, into a book. I'm not quite sure what the format will be yet, but it should be interesting. I'll keep you informed.
You have a creative week.
Michael
