What took you so long to get here?
Where have you been all my life?
I’ll tell you where I’ve been.

I’ve been in show business!

Ever since I was a little kid and heard Pinocchio singing, “Hey, diddly-dee, an actor’s life for me,” that’s what I wanted. Well, not to be an actor.
I got tired of that during my freshman year in college.

So, what to do, what to do. . .

After many years as a Hollywood press agent, I became a writer…movies, stage plays, books.
Anything that was a challenge.  I love telling stories.

After all, with due respect to actors, directors and other artists, isn’t the only truly creative aspect of the performing arts the written word?
Everything else is “interpretation”.

On this site you will find links to my many stage plays that are available for licensing, listings of my books that are available for purchasing, some of my screenplays that are available for optioning, plus my blog that will keep you apprised of my various on-going activities and we can get to know each other, maybe too well.

If you’re into DVDs, take a look at my monthly newsletter, BEST BETS ON DVD.

Also, if you have a story that you want told, either in screenplay or book form, I am still a writer-for-hire.  Have Mac-Will Write.

So, please sign the guest book and share your thoughts and comments on my blog.  But, let’s play nice!

Don’t be such a stranger.  Keep coming back!

Future Plans...

by Michael B. Druxman on 12/04/11

December 5, 2011

Last week, I read in Daily Variety that Alan Trustman, who wrote the scripts for BULLITT and THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR, among others, had self-published six of his original, unsold screenplays via CreateSpace, the same company that I published my one-person stage plays through.

My plays have been selling quite well via CreateSpace (owned by Amazon) and Kindle, and I have been pondering the idea of also publishing some of my unsold screenplays through them.  The fact that Trustman is now doing this made up my mind.

I plan to separately publish 3 of my scripts late in the 1st quarter or early in the 2nd quarter of next year.

Trustman's stated goal is to attract a producer that will turn his script into a movie.  I'm all for that, too, but my main purpose in doing this is to allow the reading public access to my stories, some of which, I think, represent my best work as a writer.  And, if a movie happens, terrific!

So, I'm currently formatting screenplays on the CreateSpace template.  I have a total of 6-8 scripts that I really like and, assuming the first three are well accepted, I'll probably go ahead and publish the rest.

Tentatively, the first 3 titles will be: SARAH GOLDEN HAIR, GHOUL CITY and UNCLE LOUIE, all different genres.

I will keep you informed as this project progresses.

In the meantime, the reprint of my BASIL RATHONE: His Life and His Films should be available within the next week or two, I hope.

You have a creative day.

Michael
