What took you so long to get here?
Where have you been all my life?
I’ll tell you where I’ve been.

I’ve been in show business!

Ever since I was a little kid and heard Pinocchio singing, “Hey, diddly-dee, an actor’s life for me,” that’s what I wanted. Well, not to be an actor.
I got tired of that during my freshman year in college.

So, what to do, what to do. . .

After many years as a Hollywood press agent, I became a writer…movies, stage plays, books.
Anything that was a challenge.  I love telling stories.

After all, with due respect to actors, directors and other artists, isn’t the only truly creative aspect of the performing arts the written word?
Everything else is “interpretation”.

On this site you will find links to my many stage plays that are available for licensing, listings of my books that are available for purchasing, some of my screenplays that are available for optioning, plus my blog that will keep you apprised of my various on-going activities and we can get to know each other, maybe too well.

If you’re into DVDs, take a look at my monthly newsletter, BEST BETS ON DVD.

Also, if you have a story that you want told, either in screenplay or book form, I am still a writer-for-hire.  Have Mac-Will Write.

So, please sign the guest book and share your thoughts and comments on my blog.  But, let’s play nice!

Don’t be such a stranger.  Keep coming back!

Can't Talk About It!

by Michael B. Druxman on 08/17/13

August 19, 2013

I have a few "irons in the fire" right now; some rather exciting possibilities if they come to pass, but the problem is that I can't really talk about them.  I don't want to jinx anything.

A couple things that I can talk about:

1. I've decided to change the cover of my published screenplay, GHOUL CITY.  I've never really been happy with the original cover, primarily because it didn't reflect the content of the story.  This new one certainly does, and as soon as I approve a printed version of the new cover (sometime this week), it will go "live" and I will post a link so you can see it.

Back when I first put out the book, I was rather new at self-publishing, and didn't realize that there were better options for the cover image.

2. At the end of last week, I had an informal sit-down meeting with Tommy Warren, who owns Spiderwood Studios in Austin.  We're both the same age and we've both been in show biz for about the same amount of time, but our paths had never crossed before.

We seemed to hit it off quite well.  He is a nice friendly guy.  A mutual friend had given Tommy a copy of the screenplay version of my short story, THE OLD COOT, and he liked it very much.  I also gave him a copy of GHOUL CITY.  Who knows?  Maybe we will do a project together in the future.

This past week, I posted a review of Criterion's new release of TO BE OR NOT TO BE with Carole Lombard and Jack Benny on the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page, so take a look.  It's a great film.

You have a creative week.

Michael
