Michael's Musings
Short Weekend in Fredericksburg

On Thursday, Sandy and I drove up to Fredericksburg...about 2 hours from Austin...for a 10th anniversary getaway.
Of German origin, Fredericksburg is a tourist town with an Old West feel to it. In fact, while there, we visited Gish's Old West Museum, which was quite interesting. It's a private museum, owned by a nice gentleman in his 80s, who has been collecting Old West stuff all his life.
However, Fredericksburg's main claim to fame is that it's the birthplace of Admiral Chester Nimitz, Commander of the Pacific War, and there are several museums there in his honor.
We left Fredericksburg a day early and came home. The food there (except for the ice cream) was not that good and neither was the hotel where we stayed. Truthfully, you can "do" the town in one full day...and I much prefer to sleep in my own bed.
Yesterday, I edited the proofs of both GABLE and ORSON WELLES, and will do the same with CLARA BOW and FLYNN within the next couple of days.
Hopefully, one of these last two scripts with be error-free, so that I can approve it for sale without ordering a second proof.
Fingers crossed.
You have a creative day, and I'll be back with you tomorrow.

Anniversary Weekend

Tomorrow (29) is wife Sandy and my 10th wedding anniversary, so I am going to take the day off.
Work-wise, I'm waiting for the initial proofs for the last four plays in The Hollywood Legends series to arrive for correction, a task that will probably take me well into next week to complete.
Beyond that, I have to correct the edited proof of my upcoming DRACULA MEETS JACK THE RIPPER And Other Revisionist Histories...which should take another week.
So, here's two more jokes to hold you until Monday. Again, please forgive the CAPS.
THE PROSPECTIVE FATHER-IN-LAW ASKED, "YOUNG MAN, CAN YOU SUPPORT A FAMILY?"
THE SURPRISED GROOM-TO-BE REPLIED, "WELL, NO. I WAS JUST PLANNING TO SUPPORT YOUR DAUGHTER. THE REST OF YOU WILL HAVE TO FEND FOR YOURSELVES."
====
A LITTLE BOY IN CHURCH FOR THE FIRST TIME WATCHED AS THE USHERS PASSED AROUND THE OFFERING PLATES.
WHEN THEY CAME NEAR HIS PEW, THE BOY SAID LOUDLY, "DON'T PAY FOR ME DADDY. I'M UNDER FIVE."
Have a creative weekend.

Everything Is Uploaded

Yesterday, I uploaded to CreateSpace the last two of my one-person plays, GABLE and CLARA BOW.
I also received word that the proof copies of both ORSON WELLES and FLYNN are now on the way to me.
So, if all goes well, the four should be available for sale -- along with LOMBARD and TRACY (available now) -- within the next couple of weeks.
In the meantime, I just received the edited copy of my forthcoming book, DRACULA MEETS JACK THE RIPPER And Other Revisionist Histories. So, checking that out before it goes to the typesetter is going to keep me busy also.
If you're wondering why I'm bringing out so many books at one time, it's because these particular titles don't really compete with each other.
Aside from fans of a particular performer, the plays are really aimed at actors/actresses who might be looking for a showcase vehicle, as well as theaters that are looking for an unusual piece to stage. They are not for the general public.
On the other hand, the book of short stories is for people who enjoy reading fiction which, in many cases, is totally different from readers who might want to buy my memoir, MY FORTY-FIVE YEARS IN HOLLYWOOD AND HOW I ESCAPED ALIVE.
There's still another book that I'm probably going to come out with during the next several months...and that one will appeal to an entirely different audience.
But, I'm not going to talk about that one yet.
So, you have a creative day...and I'll be back with you tomorrow.
