Waiting on William Desmond Taylor
by Michael B. Druxman on 08/30/14

I hope you have all had a pleasant Labor Day weekend.
I spent most of last week finishing up typing MURDER IN BABYLON, my novel based on the William Desmond Taylor case, onto the computer. That's done, but there were sure a lot of typos. Wife Sandy is now going to proof it, then I will give the manuscript another pass...or two.
The plan is to have the book available for holiday giving. In fact, I've already created a promotional trailer for this book.
This experience has made be ponder whether there are other of my forgotten manuscripts buried somewhere in my storage boxes.
I really don't have much else to report this week, except that I will be marking time, waiting for Sandy to finish her work on the manuscript, so that she can turn it over to me.
You have a creative week.

It's Down Again

First, there are two new reviews on the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link on the Introduction section of this page. They are THE WALKING DEAD, Season 4 and the Criterion edition of ALL THAT JAZZ. But, don't bother trying to go there until the first of the month because the site is a down again. That's the 3rd month in row that this has happened.
Earthlink is trying to correct this issue, so fingers crossed.
Aside from a simple medical procedure on Wednesday (everything is okay), I've been spending almost every waking hour typing/transferring my recently discovered William Desmond Taylor manuscript onto my computer. I've got about 40-50 pages left to do, so I should be done before the Labor Day holiday.
I hate this part of my job. It's just busy work, but it has to be done.
Oh, well, back to typing.
You have a creative week.

I "found" William Desmond Taylor
by Michael B. Druxman on 08/16/14
August 18, 2014
You will recall that, last week, I told you that I was planning to write a stage play about 1922 murder of film director William Desmond Taylor. I had extensively researched the still officially unsolved case back in the 1970s, but had dropped it when other paying projects came my way.
So, last weekend, I pulled out my box of research materials on the case, which had been in storage for years, and I found the manuscript of a novel that I had written about Taylor almost 40 years ago. I had totally forgotten I had ever written this.
The manuscript had been written on a typewriter and was filled with corrections made in pen, which would probably explain why I never went back to it. I would have had to retype the entire manuscript.
I'm currently in the process of typing the manuscript onto my computer, as well as doing a bit of editing and updating. It's my intention that this book, which reads quite well after so many years, will be published within the next few months. More on this project later.
Three new reviews have been added the the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page. They are TRUST ME with Clark Gregg and Alison Janney, HIGH SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL with Russ Tamblyn and THE LOVE PUNCH with Pierce Brosnan and Emma Thompson. So, please take a look.
You have a creative week.
