Michael's Musings
A Busy Week

Last week was a busy one.
Wife Sandy came back from her one week trip to Los Angeles.
I drafted a suggested contract and sent it off to various music publishers and copyright holders to see if we could make an acceptable deal for the songs I want to use in my Maurice Chevalier play. Either way, I am going to publish the book.
I created book trailers for SARAH GOLDEN HAIR and MATRICIDE.
If the links don't work, then copy the addresses below into your browser and you'll be taken right there.

It also appears that the two deals I spoke to you about last week are on track. Indeed, if all goes well, I might even have the signed agreement and a check in my hand for one of them sometime this coming week. If so, I will give you a full report in next week's blog.
I've uploaded a review of THE DOUBLE with Richard Gere onto the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page, so taker a look.
You have a creative week.

An Interesting Week

This past week has certainly been an interesting one.
It's all talk at this point and I won't get into specifics until contracts are actually signed and front monies are paid, but if everything happens the way it was negotiated last week, then I will not only have one of my yet to be produced screenplays turned into a graphic novel, but I will also have a deal to write a brand new screenplay.
Fingers crossed. I will keep you informed as these individual situations progress.
In the meantime, I've gone ahead and published those four screenplays I've talked about. I'm keeping the promotion somewhat low-key at this point because I don't want to overwhelm people with too many choices, even though the scripts are of four different genres.
One of them is a classic Western, SARAH GOLDEN HAIR. You can read more about and buy it by following the link, but if that doesn't work, just copy this address into your browser and you'll be taken right there.

If you liked my film, CHEYENNE WARRIOR, you will definitely enjoy this one.
I'll talk about the other scripts in future blogs.
I have also posted a review of TEXAS KILLING FIELDS in the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page. So, please take a look.
Now, here's a joke I was sent:
The preacher's 5-year-old daughter noticed that her father always paused and bowed his head for a moment before starting his sermon. One day, she asked him why.
"Well, Honey," he began, proud that his daughter was so observant of his messages. "I'm asking the Lord to help me preach a good sermon."
"How come He doesn't answer it?" she asked.
You have a creative week.

4 Screenplays

The problem with writing a weekly, as opposed to a daily, blog is that you have to remember to write it.
:-)
This past week was quite busy. Yesterday, the four screenplays that I've published went like on Amazon.com. They are now available in both paperback and Kindle editions.
Since my Basil Rathbone book just came out less than a month ago, I'm not going to really start promoting these new titles for a few weeks, but if you're interested in reading one or all of them, just go to Amazon. The titles are SARAH GOLDEN HAIR, MATRICIDE, UNCLE LOUIE and GHOUL CITY.
There's something there for everybody.
Incidentally, Amazon has a deal going whereby, if you order all four of the scripts in paperback, you'll get one free.
There are two new reviews on the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page. They are DIRTY GIRL, an excellent coming-of-age comedy/drama, and AN IDIOT ABROAD, a British comedy series from Ricky Gervais. So, please take a look.
I, finally, did get my copies of the Basil Rathbone book this week, and it looks very good.
I also got a box of DVDs of THE DOORWAY (2000) from Roger Corman to sell at horror conventions. That's the film I wrote and directed in Ireland starring Roy Scheider.
If you'd like a signed copy ($15 + $5 shipping), let me know. I do accept PayPal.
Now, here's something I was sent:
