Michael's Musings
2 Trailers and a New Play

This past week has been a busy one for for me. Not only did I finish and upload two new book trailers (one for me and another for a client), but I also decided what my next writing project will be.
First, here are the two trailers I uploaded. If the links don't work, just copy the addresses into your browser.
I am extremely proud of HAIL ON THE CHIEF!. It is a 3-act stage comedy that I've puttered with for about thirty years. A few years back, my son, David, and I even tried to turn it into a musical. But, I think the perfect form for it is this straight farce, and I do hope you will take a look at it.
You can watch the trailer here:

And, you can order the book here:

The other trailer I did is, I think, one of my best. It's for a new book that deals with the classic noir radio show and movie series, THE WHISTLER. Here's the trailer:

Beyond that, I'm still writing my second memoir and am down to the last 2-3 chapters, but I've slowed my pace a bit because, quite frankly, I'm a bit hesitant to finish this one.
In the meantime, I'm beginning research on another stage play that will be part of THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS series, except that this one will be a multiple-character play. I'm not going to reveal the names of the people involved until it's finished, but the story is quite juicy. And, there will be music.
You have a creative week.

My two-character, semi-autobiographical stage play, PUTZ, is now available for purchase at Amazon.com.
Here is the link to the book trailer, and that is followed by a link to the Amazon.com page where you can purchase the play. Both are followed by the web addresses, in the event that the links don't work.

In other news, I've been booked to appear at two horror conventions, two October weekends in a row.
The first is the South Texas Horror Con in McAllen, TX, October 19-20.
Then, the following weekend (October 26-28), I will be in Burbank, CA, for the Son of Monsterpalooza convention.
On one day between those dates, I am supposed to make an appearance at the Austin Film Festival.
Wow! That's a lot of running around for me. I just hope I survive.
Then, on November 12th, I'm scheduled to address a dinner meeting of the Austin Sherlock Holmes Society. Obviously, I will be talking about Basil Rathbone.
You have a creative week.

Waiting for Proofs
by Michael B. Druxman on 06/30/12

First, there are several new reviews up on the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page. They include BLACK LIMOUSINE, BULLHEAD and 21 JUMP STREET, which I hated, but which (depending on your sense of humor) you might enjoy.
This past week, I finished formatting the scripts for both HAIL ON THE CHIEF! and PUTZ, and I am now waiting for the proof copies which, once corrected, will be uploaded and, within a few days, the two books should be available for $7.50 each in paperback or $5.00 each on Kindle.
I am now back to writing my second memoir, approaching 200 pages thus far.
I am very pleased at how well my plays and screenplays are selling on Amazon. I just received a very nice monthly royalty statement.
Another thing I did this past week was to create a music video for my friend, singer Cindy Robinson. Back when son David and I were creating the demo recording for the musical version of HAIL ON THE CHIEF!, Cindy recorded a couple of numbers for us. Recently, I happened to hear again one of those songs, "The Best That We Are," which had been cut from the show because it didn't work within the book. However, I really like the song, and Cindy is terrific, so I put together this video that you can view here. Or, as usual, if that doesn't work, you can always copy the following address into your browser and you'll be taken right there.

Enjoy, and have a creative week,
Michael
