Good News?

Well, the "good news," if there can be any good news after Wednesday's disaster, is that the airline is refunding me the cost of my non-refundable tickets...and, they are letting keep the $400.00 in vouchers they gave us at the airport.
That's all well and good, but I'd rather be in Scottsdale doing Festival of the West.
Not much else happening, since we were planning to be away until Monday night.
You have a creative weekend while I reorganize my thoughts, which are still somewhat in the dumps.

Plans Canceled

Yesterday has got to have been one of the 4-5 worst days of my life.
I was supposed to appear at the Festival of the West this week and weekend.
We arrived at the Austin airport about 2 hours ahead of our flight to Scottsdale, only to learn that the flight had been delayed 5 hours.
So, I called Rollie Stevens, who is putting on the event, told him of the delay and he told me to call him when I had a new flight time, so that he could have my wife and I picked up at the airport and taken to our hotel, which was being paid for by the event.
It is not fun sitting in an airport for 6 hours waiting for a flight...even if the airline is giving us $400.00 in vouchers because of the inconvenience.
So, after 6 hours, we were informed of the new flight time and I called Rollie Stevens.
Guess what?
His mail box was filled and I could not leave a message as to when our flight would arrive.
So, I called the hotel where I thought we'd been booked into and they did not have a reservation for me.
I may very well have been booked into another hotel, but I was not about to fly to Arizona not knowing if somebody was going to pick me up or where I would be staying.
At that point, I said, "F**k it!"
I was exhausted. I was angry. And, I'm too old for this s**t!
So, I came home...and if I never fly again, that's soon enough for me.
You have a creative day, and I'm going to calm down.

Festival of the West
by Michael B. Druxman on 03/15/11
March 16, 2011
This afternoon, I leave for Scottsdale, AZ, to appear at the Festival of the West on Thursday (17) through Sunday (20).
I'll be signing copies of CHEYENNE WARRIOR, both the published screenplay and the DVD, as well as copies of MY FORTY-FIVE YEARS IN HOLLYWOOD AND HOW I ESCAPED ALIVE and ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD.
If you're going to be in the neighborhood and are a fan of Westerns, you should come by. Among the other people there who will be signing are Clint Walker, James Drury, Robert Fuller, William Smith, Dan Haggerty, who was in CHEYENNE WARRIOR, Sharon Farrell, Kathy Garver, John Saxon, Denny Miller and many more, including the children/grandchildren of many legendary Western stars (e.g. Roy Rogers, Joel McCrea, Chuck Connors).
I will attempt to post on my blog while I'm away, but since I'm not sure what kind of Internet connection I'm going to have, if I disappear for a few days, please understand. Worst case scenario: I'll be back on line Tuesday (22).
So, have a creative day and, hopefully, I'll see you tomorrow.
