What took you so long to get here?
Where have you been all my life?
I’ll tell you where I’ve been.

I’ve been in show business!

Ever since I was a little kid and heard Pinocchio singing, “Hey, diddly-dee, an actor’s life for me,” that’s what I wanted. Well, not to be an actor.
I got tired of that during my freshman year in college.

So, what to do, what to do. . .

After many years as a Hollywood press agent, I became a writer…movies, stage plays, books.
Anything that was a challenge.  I love telling stories.

After all, with due respect to actors, directors and other artists, isn’t the only truly creative aspect of the performing arts the written word?
Everything else is “interpretation”.

On this site you will find links to my many stage plays that are available for licensing, listings of my books that are available for purchasing, some of my screenplays that are available for optioning, plus my blog that will keep you apprised of my various on-going activities and we can get to know each other, maybe too well.

If you’re into DVDs, take a look at my monthly newsletter, BEST BETS ON DVD.

Also, if you have a story that you want told, either in screenplay or book form, I am still a writer-for-hire.  Have Mac-Will Write.

So, please sign the guest book and share your thoughts and comments on my blog.  But, let’s play nice!

Don’t be such a stranger.  Keep coming back!

9 for 9

by Michael B. Druxman on 02/28/11

March 1, 2011

I made 9 Oscar predictions, and I got all 9 right.

That's the first time I've ever got 100% correct.

How about that?

Applause.  Applause.  Applause.

The truth is that I have yet to see BLACK SWAN, THE FIGHTER or TRUE GRIT.

But, predicting correctly who will win the Oscar really has nothing to do with whether you see a particular movie or not.

Forget the critics awards and the Golden Globes.  They are not good barometers as to who will win the big one.

They key to Oscar handicapping: It's about listening to the industry "talk" and watching how the Hollywood Guilds distribute their awards.

BTW: I was delighted that David Seidler won the writing Oscar for THE KING'S SPEECH.  As, I believe, I told you before, we were at the University of Washington Drama Department together.

In fact, we were both in a television production of HAMLET.

This afternoon, I'm picking my son, David, up at the airport.  He and his g.f. are coming here for a 5 day visit.

So, you have a creative day and I'll be back tomorrow.

Michael
