What took you so long to get here?
Where have you been all my life?
I’ll tell you where I’ve been.

I’ve been in show business!

Ever since I was a little kid and heard Pinocchio singing, “Hey, diddly-dee, an actor’s life for me,” that’s what I wanted. Well, not to be an actor.
I got tired of that during my freshman year in college.

So, what to do, what to do. . .

After many years as a Hollywood press agent, I became a writer…movies, stage plays, books.
Anything that was a challenge.  I love telling stories.

After all, with due respect to actors, directors and other artists, isn’t the only truly creative aspect of the performing arts the written word?
Everything else is “interpretation”.

On this site you will find links to my many stage plays that are available for licensing, listings of my books that are available for purchasing, some of my screenplays that are available for optioning, plus my blog that will keep you apprised of my various on-going activities and we can get to know each other, maybe too well.

If you’re into DVDs, take a look at my monthly newsletter, BEST BETS ON DVD.

Also, if you have a story that you want told, either in screenplay or book form, I am still a writer-for-hire.  Have Mac-Will Write.

So, please sign the guest book and share your thoughts and comments on my blog.  But, let’s play nice!

Don’t be such a stranger.  Keep coming back!

A Very Nice Birthday

by Michael B. Druxman on 02/24/11

February 25, 2011

I enjoyed a very nice 70th birthday on Wednesday (23).

Sandy and I went to see THE KING'S SPEECH, and when I told the guy at the box-office that it was my 70th, he let me in free.

After that, we went out and had a nice early dinner.  I came home to find over 100 happy birthday wishes on my Facebook and other pages.

We really liked THE KING'S SPEECH.  On Sunday, I'm betting it will take home the Oscars for Best Picture and Actor (Colin Firth), and it also should get the awards for Director, Supporting Actor (Geoffrey Rush) and Screenplay, which will written by David Seidler, a fellow classmate of mine in the University of Washington Drama Dept.  We did a couple of productions together back in 1959-60.

On Tuesday (1), my son, David, is coming to Austin to visit for a few days.  We'll take him down to San Antonio to see The Alamo, plus we'll do some other fun stuff.

I also got a call yesterday about collaborating on a possible book, and I'll be meeting with those people on the following week.

A lot is going on.

So, you have a creative weekend.  Watch the Oscars, and I'll be back with you on Monday.

The Big 70!

by Michael B. Druxman on 02/22/11

February 23, 2011

Today is my birthday.  I am 70 years old.

I'm not going to do any work today, just go out and fool around.

Sandy and I will probably go see THE KING'S SPEECH, then go out for a nice dinner.

I might not even write a blog entry for tomorrow.  I figure I'm entitled to a day off.

So, you have a creative 2 days and I'll be back on Friday.

Dad's Daughter

by Michael B. Druxman on 02/21/11

February 22, 2011

I was just sent this:

This guy's daughter just walked into the living room and said: "Dad cancel my allowance, rent my room out, donate my clothes, take my TV, stereo, iPhone and jewelry to the Salvation Army.  Sell my car, take my front door key and throw me out of the house."

Well, she didn't exactly put it like that.

Actually she said, "Dad, this is my new boyfriend, Mohammed."

You have a creative day.
